The well is located in the settlement of Soices Moual about two kilometres from the northern coast of the department of Nord-Ouest. From larger settlements there is a nearby town of Mare Rouge (in the direction of southeast). The settlement is in a lonely place on a mild slope far from the road. In order to reach the place with heavy equipment, the villagers had to create some space between the bushes and cactuses. Near the well there is the original source of water - about a two-meter shaft, from the bottom of which people used to scoop water from a puddle (see photo). One person would climb into the shaft, scoop the water with a bowl and pour it into a larger container. Yield rate was very low and the quality of the water bad.
The borehole is seven meters deep. It has a great abundance and provides with water the entire village. It is fitted with a hand pump India. The site was recommended to us as much needed by Italian missionaries of Mare Rouge.
The construction of this well was supported by an amount of 6500 USD by a donor from the Czech Republic who is a member of the Club of Friends. She decided to call the well by the name of Francis to honour the Pope, who through his actions inspired her to do this good deed.
The drilling mission, during which this well was built, was financially supported by the organization Food For The Poor.
