16. Fanka
The fishing village of Carrenage is located in the Gulf of Baie du Mole, about 2 km northeast of the port town of Mole Saint - Nicolas. The well is located on the hillside couple hundred meters above the village at about thirty meters above the sea level. The surrounding landscape is very arid, overgrown with bushes and cacti. From the well there is a nice view of the bay, in which in 1492 Christopher Columbus anchored on his first discovery voyage. The well Fanka is the only source of drinking water for the settlement in Carrenage.
The well is 23 meters deep. The well was originally fitted with a foot pump Vergnet. Since 2016 a new hand pump India has been into operation.
The drilling mission, during which the well Fanka was built, was financially supported by a permanent UN mission in Haiti, Minustah.

17. Macocha
The area of Ferme is located about 5 km northwest of Ti Riviere, towards a small town of Mare Rouge, at an altitude of 500 m. The well is situated on the school precincts, financed by the Italian mission.
The borehole is 106 m deep, through the entire depth there is limestone bedrock. It is our deepest borehole constructed on Haiti. The drilling was a thorough test of our drilling machine. Only at 90 meters there were first signs of moisture and at 97 meters, water appeared. The spring is very abundant and is one of the strongest of those we drilled. The well is equipped with an electric pump with solar power. There are also two large concrete storage tanks as part of the well. The well is named after the natural karst Macocha abyss in the Czech Republic.

The well is located in the village of Bas Pinal, at an altitude of 350m on the premises of an orphanage and school for forty children. Bas Pinal is located in the department of Nord, about 50 km south of Cap Haitien, between settlements of Ranquitte and Pignon. The well was built in cooperation with an American organization Haitihelpers that runs the local orphanage.
The borehole is 68 m deep, through the entire depth there is the slate ground. We reached the water at the depth of 42 m, but an abundant spring was as far as 60 meters. The drilling work was conducted in the autumn of 2012. During the spring 2013 mission concreting and fitting of the well with a hand pump India was carried out.
Costs of the entire construction of the well were supported by a donation from the Živnůstka family from the Czech Republic.

The settlement of Clenette is located 3 km southwest of Bombardopolis at an altitude of 500 m. The well is on the edge of the football field in the middle of Clenette.
The borehole is 88 m deep, in the whole depth lies limestone rock, the last six meters in the form of hard rock. Water column is 39 m high. Well has good quality water. However, the yield is affected by rainfall. Because of the water savings, the locals lock the well and it is in operation twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. It is the only local source of water. The well is equipped with a hand pump India.

20. Third Day
The village of Sou-pont lies about 5 km west of Bombardopolis at an altitude of 450 m. The site is in a green valley at the crossroads, hardly accessible with our equipment.
The well is the only source of water for the village, which has about 2,000 inhabitants. Before the well was put into operation, local people had to walk to the water stream through rough terrain. The journey there and back took three hours. Moreover, without any certainty that water will be available. The well was originally fitted with a foot pump. Since 2016 a new hand pump India has been put into operation.
Drilling of this well had a dramatic course, which is aptly described in the work diary: "At a depth of 5 to 8 meters the borehole keeps filling with black gravel but we continue. At a depth of 38 m the hammer jams and cannot move. We pour soapy water into the borehole. We try to spin the string with a hydraulic arm from the truck. We are exhausted, there are about one hundred local spectators around us. We finish at one o'clock in the morning. The next day we try to pull out the rods with the help of hydraulic legs of the truck, but in vain. When pulling, the four-ton chain snapped. In the evening we drill with a second hammer around jammed rods that stick out of the ground. On the third day in the afternoon the string becomes loose and water starts spouting from the borehole. That is why we name the well Third day." The well is 37 meters deep, the water column is 11 meters.

The village of Vernet is located less than five kilometres southwest of Bombardopolis at an altitude of 500 m. The place is densely populated. Before the construction of the well the people used rain water from an open tank which is located not far from the well and it is now used only as non-potable water.
The borehole is 33 meters deep and has an abundant spring. Drilling in the limestone bedrock went without complications. The well is fitted with a hand pump India. Due to high occupancy of the well, in the future we would like to install a system of solar electric pump with a storage tank.

The inland village of Dupre is about 5 km northwest of Ti Riviere at an altitude of 500 m. This is a hardly accessible region with great elevation.
The borehole is 87 m deep and the water column is 75 m. It is one of our deepest wells. The well Medůzka was fitted with a hand pump India. Due to the abundant spring and great necessity of drinking water in the area, the well is currently undergoing a conversion into electric pump with solar power and storage tanks. These adjustments are funded by the Italian mission in Ti Riviere.

23. Sarka
Fishing commune of La Pierre is located along the road from Gonaives to Anse Rouge. During our travels we discovered by chance a well fitted with a pump India. It was out of operation for many years. Local people did not know who built the well and when. We repaired the well and named it Sarka. In the immediate vicinity there are the dwellings of villagers. The well is a few dozen meters from the sea.
In the village the well Sarka is one of the two sources of drinking water. The second source is a natural spring that has good water, but it is located about 2km from this part of the village.
The well Sarka is ten meters deep and has a rich source of quality drinking water. We regularly carry out its inspection and servicing.

The village of Damé is located approximately five kilometres southeast of Mare Rouge in the direction of Ti Riviere at an altitude of 500m. The well is located under the new church run by Italian missionaries. The area is densely populated.
The borehole is 22 meters deep, the water column is nine meters high. At the beginning of drilling we had problems with mud. The borehole was completed thanks to using a soluble liquid additive that reduces friction and stabilizes the walls of the borehole. The well was originally equipped with a hand pump India. An electric pump, water reservoir and fountains with three taps were subsequently installed.
Construction of the well was co-financed by the Italian mission in Mare Rouge which also ensured complete installation of pumps and construction of a tank with a fountain. The well is run by the mission.

The well is located in the region of Madora, which is located 5 km west of Mare Rouge. In the vicinity of the well Amelia there are several settlements and villages. People from this area had to walk for an hour to reach the closest well. Non-potable water was scooped up from the pit where the water was very polluted. The site is located a few miles from the sea and at an altitude of approximately 350 m.
The borehole is seven meters deep, the water level is in six meters of depth. The well is equipped with a hand pump India.
